Khmer New Year 2025 in Lognes
On Saturday, April 12th, 2025, the Salle du Citoyen in Lognes came alive with the vibrant sounds and colors of Cambodian tradition during the Khmer New Year 2025, organized by the Khmer Buddhist Cooperative of Île-de-France and YUVACHUN France. This free and open event brought together the Khmer community, Lognes residents, and many curious visitors eager to experience this ancestral celebration.
🌅 A Morning of Spiritual Devotion
The day began at 8:00 AM with a warm welcome for community members, followed by the Krong Pili religious ceremony. The traditional Ro Bane Trodt parade through the streets of Lognes offered a colorful and symbolic spectacle.
Spiritual talks by the monks followed, and traditional Poun Phnom Ksagk & Srang Preah ceremonies brought a deeply respectful tone to the morning. In the afternoon, Cambodian traditional games brought joy and laughter to attendees of all ages.
🌟 A Festive and Lively Evening
At 5:00 PM, guests of honor were welcomed with live music by the Chaiyam group from Sovannmatcha Association. After the Cambodian and French national anthems, speeches were delivered by Mr. Nicolas Delaunay, Mayor of Lognes, and H.E. Mr. Luy David, Ambassador of Cambodia to France, emphasizing the importance of culture and community ties.
The audience was then treated to a beautiful traditional dance performance by AEKUBACF, before enjoying a festive night filled with live shows and performances until 2:00 AM.
